Due to the pandemic situation, the traditional ritual of throwing the cross was abolished in several Bulgarian municipalities, but not in Burgas.
The celebration of Jordan’s Day passed with restrictions, but the Epiphany ritual for the salvation of the Holy Cross was performed.
At 12 o’clock in the area of the Burgas Bridge, 54 brave men entered the cold waters of the Black Sea, and the 18-year-old student Ivan Gaitanov took out the cross.
Jordan’s Day began with a festive liturgy in the church “St. St. Cyril and Methodius ”.
